AR Project Summary (at least 250 words):
I have been meeting with classroom teachers in order to identify my sample group of students. I surveyed them to gather a list of potential students whom they felt were struggling with an absence of intrinsic motivation and/or not working to their potential. This was a preliminary list based strictly on first impressions at the start of the school year.  After creating that list, I am also collecting data from our beginning of the year (BOY) universal screener, ISIP.  I am using this data to reinforce my position that individual goal setting will benefit struggling readers.  My students will take a progress monitoring screener (ISIP) to assess monthly progress next week (October 8th) and I will use that assessment data to finalize my group of students.  Once those students are identified, I will send home information and permission slips to parents in order to inform them and get consent for their student's involvement in my project.  My plan is to then start meeting with my group and introducing the concept of individual goal setting.
